The contract is the only warranty homeowners have that the work is going to be completed just as they expect, and in a timely fashion. That said, it’s a good idea to make sure that the contract contains a detailed description of the project, with everything that is going to be installed and worked on and in some cases it’s even a good idea to put down things that will not be done. For example, if installing an appliance that might need a dedicated power supply, such as a sump pump,make sure the contractor will make the necessary adjustments. If they are not doing that kind of work, the contract should clearly state so.
