Sump Pumps to the Rescue!
Challenge
During the rainy season, homeowner Shane gets an extreme amount of water coming into his basement. He was worried that if he doesn't update his sump system he will continue to get water in his basement. He fears that his basement will flood someday and will ruin the finished part of his basement. He also wants to be able to leave his home for the week or weekend and not have to worry about if his basement will be dry when he comes home.
Shane did extensive research on what type of system he wanted. He considered water backups, multiple sump systems, and several different items. He decided to have Midwest come out and take a look at the problem.
Kevin, one of Midwest's Service Design Specialists, helped Shane out. He found that even in dry times Shane's sump pump was being overrun. The amount of water coming in was way more than the pumps could handle. Shane explained that he was constantly purchasing pumps at hardware stores and was always replacing them himself. When Kevin arrived, Shane already had two ready to go to replace the current pumps.
Shane was looking for a more permanent solution so that he didn't have to work so hard to keep his basement water-free. After inspecting, our team came up with a system that could handle the amount of water it was receiving.
Solution
Kevin and his team designed a sump system that incorporates two of Midwest's commercial pumps that are originally designed for high-capacity water situations. They also helped Shane redesign his discharge system so that it would not freeze in the winter and cause additional issues. There were many challenges with this project, the biggest one being the sheer amount of volume coming in. It was also challenging to figure out how to run the discharge and where to actually discharge it.
Midwest has a number of sump pump systems. Including TripleSafe, SuperSump, SmartSump, and UltraSump. Read more about these systems here.
