These homeowners were going to have the radon mitigated in their crawlspace, so they decided to get work done on their crawlspace while they were already having projects done. We sent System Design Specialist James Denning to take a look at the crawlspace and see what could be done to improve it. When James found moisture problems, musty smells, and sagging floors in the living room, he knew just what needed to be done. James installed supplemental support beams, SmartJacks to support the extra support beams, and a CleanSpace Vapor Barrier to isolate any moisture that sneaks into the crawlspace. Dirt Crawlspace Causing Musty Smells

The dirt crawlspace under this home had musty smells coming from the damp dirt. These smells were mixed with warm, humid air, then they rose to the main level of the house.

CleanSpace Vapor Barrier Installed

A CleanSpace Vapor Barrier was installed to prevent moisture and water vapor from staying in the crawlspace. The CleanSpace Vapor Barrier isolated the crawlspace from the dirt ground below, and from the house above.

SmartJacks and Supplemental Support Beams

To fix the problem of the floors sagging, our team installed supplemental support beams as well as a few SmartJacks to stabilize and support the floor support beams. The team wanted to ensure that the floors would not sag and that even it moisture found its way into the crawlspace, it would not weaken the new support structures.
