Foundation Wall Supported in Britt, IA

Foundation Wall Supported in Britt, IA

Foundation Wall Supported in Britt, IA Foundation Wall Supported in Britt, IA

This homeowner recently faced the challenge of bowing basement walls. Our solution for this is the PowerBrace wall system. This system supports walls damaged by external hydrostatic pressure that causes them to buckle, bow, and crack. By utilizing steel I-beams, the PowerBrace securely stabilizes the walls, preventing any shifting of the soil that could impact the foundation. PowerBraces can be adjusted over time to not only stabilize the walls but potentially return them to their original position.

This customer wanted to stabilize his old farmhouse wall since he and his family were planning on living there for a long time. The home's wall was bowing due to pressure from the soil and water. This problem needed to be solved. We installed PowerBraes to the wall to support the inward movement it was experiencing. PowerBraces not only stabilize walls, but they can reverse wall bowing over time by being tightened regularly!

Job Stories From Britt, IA
Stabilizing an Old Farm House in Britt, IA

These homeowners were looking to get their old farm house stabilized, as they were planning on living in the home for a long time. They knew of Midwest and our reputation, so they gave us a call. System Design Specialist, Michael Holtzbauer, came out to meet with them. Michael did his inspection and found the problem the house was having was the walls were coming in and they needed to be stabilized. The pressure from the soil and the water has affected the wall and was finally giving in. To fix this issue, we installed PowerBraces to support the inward movement of the wall. Overtime, these braces can be torqued to help straighten the wall back out. The homeowners loved this solution and we know he has peace of mind knowing his walls are not going anywhere.

We have a red brick foundation/basement. built in about 1940's there is some cracking in the bricks and we need someone to look at it to see if it's a problem. The house doesn't appear to have settled very much but I want to make sure we don't have troubles in the future.

Project Location: Britt, IA
We just moved to an old farm house. the cement in the basement is constantly crumbling leaving it very dusty and also has a lot of moisture even with a dehumidifier running down there. It smells terrible and is no place to do laundry! We are wondering about somehow recovering the walls so they don't crumble and figure something out to prevent the water coming in when it rains. we do have gutters and eve spouts that direct the rain away from the house. We just are sure what more to do. It looks like the windows could be part of the issue too. Thanks fo any help!
Project Location: Britt, IA
I have a sand floor in my crawl space that gets moist/wet when there is normal rainfall. I average 60% to 70% humidity levels in the house year round due to the excessive amount of moisture that evaporates and (I assume) comes through the hardwood floors. The humidity levels are about 10% less during the winter but still too high. With the air conditioning set at 70 degrees in summer, the humidity level in the house is also around 70%. The exposed portion of the walls range from 30"-40" and are insulated. I would like to have my crawl space evaluated and get a quote for resolving the issue. The home is 1 level and around 1800 sq. ft. with the crawl space being slightly less sq footage. I am available all next week.

Having water come through mud joints in the block wall
Project Location: Britt, IA
House has a partial basement, the rest is crawlspace. Crawlspace has plastic laid on the floor, but is not sealed. Crawlspace and bandjoists need insulation. Would like crawlspace sealed up better to limit moisture intrusion. Basement leaks water between wall and floor and through cracks. Some mold/mildew cleanup may be required.
