Upon receiving this customer's request regarding their malfunctioning basement dehumidifier, we promptly assessed the situation. Our inspection revealed that the dehumidifier's cold coil was at 19, indicating a depleted refrigerant (freon) level. The customers expressed their concerns about preventing mold growth, improving air quality, and eliminating the musty odor in their basement. To address these issues, we removed their existing Sanidry XP dehumidifier and installed a new Sanidry Sedona model.
Dehumidifiers are essential in basement environments for several reasons. Firstly, they help control moisture levels. Basements often have higher humidity due to limited ventilation and moisture infiltration. By regulating and reducing moisture in the air, dehumidifiers create a drier and healthier environment in the basement.
Another crucial benefit is the prevention of mold and mildew growth. High humidity fosters the development of mold and mildew, which can negatively impact indoor air quality and lead to health issues. By reducing moisture levels, dehumidifiers inhibit the growth and spread of these harmful substances, ensuring a healthier living space.
Preserving the integrity of stored belongings is another advantage of using dehumidifiers in basements. Excessive humidity can damage furniture, documents, electronics, clothing, and other stored items. Dehumidifiers help protect these possessions by controlling humidity levels, preventing warping, rotting, rusting, and deterioration.
In addition, dehumidifiers play a significant role in reducing odors. High humidity in basements can contribute to unpleasant and musty smells. By removing excess moisture from the air, dehumidifiers effectively reduce or eliminate these odors, creating a fresher and more enjoyable living environment.
Moreover, dehumidifiers help prevent structural damage. Excessive moisture can weaken and compromise the structural components of a basement, such as wooden beams, joists, and support columns. By maintaining optimal humidity levels, dehumidifiers help protect the structural integrity of the basement, ensuring the long-term stability of the building.
Lastly, dehumidifiers improve overall comfort in the basement. Damp and humid conditions can make the space feel uncomfortable and clammy. By removing excess moisture from the air, dehumidifiers create a more comfortable living environment, making the basement suitable for various activities and purposes.
By replacing the faulty dehumidifier with a new Sanidry Sedona model, we addressed the customers' concerns and provided them with an effective solution to maintain a dry, mold-free, and pleasant basement environment.
This customer owns a rental property and contacted us about water problems in the basement causing leaks in the carpeted area. We found that the water was coming through the concrete block wall. Water can seep through concrete block walls due to different reasons like pressure, small pores in the blocks, poor drainage, cracks, lack of waterproofing, and freezing and thawing cycles.
Pressure from water in the soil can force it through cracks or porous areas in the blocks during heavy rain. Poor drainage systems can lead to water build-up and pressure against the foundation. Cracks in the foundation or blocks create paths for water entry, and poor waterproofing makes the walls more vulnerable. In colder climates, freeze-thaw cycles can widen cracks and allow water to enter.
To solve the water problem, we used two solutions: WaterGuard and CleanSpace. WaterGuard is a drainage system that collects and redirects water along the basement walls. CleanSpace is a moisture-resistant barrier installed on the walls to prevent water and moisture from getting in. The renters are happy with the property owner's quick and effective resolution of the water issue and Midwest is happy to have helped!
Night and day difference right there! This basement had a lot of water damage and a bowing wall. After we performed an inspection, we determined the best action plan was to do a full perimeter interior drainage system, install a vapor barrier, and install PowerBrace wall system to support the failing wall.
This customer needed a sleek, but efficient, solution to the problem of water in their basement! To make that happen, we installed TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System.
Homeowner was seeing water leaking into their basement. They reached out to have us get it fixed. We used our CleanSpace and watergard system to move water our and away form the basement.
